What you need to know before starting.
I can’t wait to meet you in the online studio! To make sure we are all set before class and coaching sessions, please read the following information.
Preparing for a Session
Working in the online studio means that you will need to responsibly prepare yourself and a suitable space prior to participating. If you are a beginner and do not have dance wear do not worry! Any fitness wear or clothing that you can move in comfortably and very importantly, feel good in, is perfect. You can work in ballet shoes or socks, providing your surface is not too slippery. Please choose your footwear carefully considering the surface of your floor. Your floor should give your feet some grip whilst feeling you have ease of movement. Please ensure you have a ballet barre or a safe alternative that stands between chest and waist height, which is secure for you to hold onto during barre work. We have all adapted to make kitchen work tops and sturdy chairs take on a new role in life. Feel free to get creative! Lastly, we can make the smallest of spaces become our stage - just make sure you have enough to move your limbs to their extremities to avoid broken plant pots and bruised limbs! If you have any questions please contact me here.
Using Zoom
If you haven’t done so already, please download the Zoom application onto your device in advance. Once you have booked your class or session, you will receive a link before your scheduled class. If you have not received your link 2 hours before your start time, please check your spam and junk folders. If you still cannot find the link, please email me immediately and I will resend it to you. Please ensure you have the link before we start as I won’t have access to emails right before or during class.
The online studio will be open 5 minutes before to ensure a prompt start. It is recommended that you do not join a class if you are more than 10 minutes late as this will significantly increase your chance of injury due to a lack of warm up time. If you have any questions please contact me here.
Health & Safety
Your safety and wellbeing is my number one priority as we work together through classwork and coaching sessions. I take my responsibility seriously as a teacher and coach and it is therefore important that we have a clear understanding of where each of our responsibilities rests. Whilst I will endeavour to instruct and guide you to the best of my ability using my qualifications and over 16 years of professional teaching experience, you acknowledge that you are participating in online classes or coaching at your own risk and that you are medically fit to do so. Kristen McGarrity Ltd. cannot be held liable for injury, damage or loss as a result of your participation, if you participate against the advice of a professional medical advisor or fail to comply with advice given to you by myself, Kristen McGarrity, or any other Kristen McGarrity Ltd. instructor during online classes or coaching sessions in particular, but without limitation, to safety and technical execution. Please see a full liability waver here.
